Babes in Toyland

Open auditions for “Babes in Toyland” at the Haddonfield Plays and Players will be held on Sunday Sept. 14th from 6-10pm, and September 15th, 5pm to 10pm. You must call or email to schedule an audition time. Auditions for children (ages 8 to 15) will be held on Sunday the 14th, and auditions for adults (16 and older) will be held on Monday the 15th.

Please prepare a song (minimum of 16 bars) with piano accompaniment or a CD with an instrumental track only (vocals on your accompaniment CD will be considered unacceptable). Please be prepared to dance as well. Headshot and resume optional. There are 9 adult roles and 13 roles for either children or teenagers, and a chorus of singers and/or dancers of 8-12 people. Performances run for the first 3 weekends of December.

The villainous Barnaby has fallen in love with sweet Mary Quite Contrary. If he can’t buy her love, then he’ll force her to marry him threatening to foreclose on her mother. Mary already has her heart set on marrying Barnaby’s nephew Alan but not if Barnaby can help it! He hires two bumbling ruffians to do way with Alan. Alan returns to Mother Goose Land amidst much rejoicing. Mary journeys to the mysterious Toyland through the dangerous Spider Forest. Barnaby hasn’t given up and herds the whole gang of Mother Goose Land characters to Toyland in pursuit of Mary. This charming musical tale through the worlds of Mother Goose Land and Toyland is a holiday delight for the entire family.
